Starting in May 2021 the CMQG is hosting an informal Block of the Month Quilt Along. Each month at our regular meeting through January 2022 one of our members will "host" a different block from the Modern Quilt Guild Block Studies series. You're welcome to engage however you'd like, and design your own quilt using all, some, or even just one of the blocks. Each block was chosen for its flexibility and potential to be used in many different quilt designs. Look at the May 2021 Meeting Deck for the list of blocks, more details about this project, and Gretchen's excellent primer on quilt color theory.
(Note: the links above won't work without a login to the Modern Quilt Guild website! New members should have instructions for signing up for the website, get in touch if you're having trouble.)
As you're pulling fabrics, planning, designing, and sewing, you can use the hashtag #cmqg_bom to share your work with the rest of the guild!
Modern Medallion Quilt Along
From September 2020 to May 2021 a group of CMQG members committed to meeting monthly and making regular progress on a medallion quilt. Each member of the group designed their own quilt, starting in the middle with a center design, and building out with different borders through the months of meeting.
This project was a big success - visit the hashtag on Instagram to see all of the amazing quilts that were made! #cmqgmodernmedallion
